Melbourne Writer's Festival - Reflection

I found my day at the Melbourne Writer’s Festival an enjoyable and educational experience. The panel topic that I thought worked the best was “Suddenly it came to me”, where authors spoke about where they found their inspiration. I felt the highlight speakers for the day were Margaret Clark, Sonya Hartnett, Michael Gerard Bauer and Adam Elliot. It was particularly interesting to see which speaker got the best reaction from the audience, and unexpectedly I found that Margaret Clark was the clear winner. Considering that on first appearance she looks like a conservative grandmotherly figure, perhaps it was partly the element of surprise helped her capture her young audience so completely (and have them eating out of the palm of her hand!)
